A letter from the publisher …
Dear Media Professional:
In 1981, I left my job as a Merrill Lynch stockbroker to pursue a career in gambling. It was a good move. I discovered that short-term, short-bankroll, speculative strategies can be applied more efficiently and profitably in the gambling markets than the financial markets.
In fact, my success as a gambling tournament professional financed the start-up of Huntington Press in 1983. Prior to the wins, however, I lived through several lean years. I survived as a gambler by developing a philosophy we call "Couponomy"—taking advantage of the many opportunities created by intense casino competition, such as coupons, giveaways, gambling promotions, loss leaders, and the like. I realized during this time that others could benefit from my experience as a "Couponomist."
Huntington Press began with the publication of the Las Vegas Advisor, a monthly consumer newsletter for value-conscious Las Vegas visitors and locals. Since then, we've grown by leaps and bounds; LVA now has more than 15,000 subscribers. My vision was, and continues to be, to provide useful, practical, reliable information for those who choose Las Vegas as their gaming destination.
